Why did you choose to submit to Horror Over the Handlebars?
As a New Englander and a child of the 80s, it was a perfect fit for who I am and what I write.

Tell us a little about your story, “Omnivision” and its genesis.
Omni-Vision is about a child obsessed with getting a VCR to tape his favorite show, then making the wrong deal with a mysterious man to get it.  My story came out of nostalgia for the 80s and wanting to be stuck there, hence a magical VCR that can literally stop time.

If you could time travel, where would you go, what would you do, and why would you do that?
There are so many options! Part of me would want to go and visit family members I lost long ago, but as a film buff, I’d also love to stroll through the Hollywood Golden age.  Though in the end of the day, I would probably pick just going back to a Friday night in the 80s to spend a night on the couch with my family watching TGIF and having ice cream sundaes, just so I could experience those fond memories as an adult.

Who would you bring back from the dead for one hour and what would you do with them?
As a horror writer, I’m supposed to say Edgar Allen Poe here, but in truth, it would be Grandfather or as I called him, my Papa. He was the largest influence of my personality.  He made every cashier, crossing guard, stranger on the street and anyone that passed him by laugh and smile.  He brought such joy and happiness by just being himself.  I was just about to become a teenager when we lost him, I would love to go back to him now and get to ask all the questions I never got to ask.

Tell us about “Biker Gang” in Horror Over the Handlebars and what you liked about it.
Piedmont does a fantastic job of bringing back the feel of the era in Biker Gang.  It truly made me feel like I was back in the 80s riding my bike and I vividly recall living through hurricane Gloria as well!  It’s a great monster tale that feels right in place with the decade.

What's your favorite piece of art? Could be music, writing, sculpture, painting...
I’m a huge fan of glass blowing.  Recently I want to the Chihuly museum in Seattle and it was absolutely stunning.  The idea of taking sand and turning into something magical and fragile is so beautiful to me.

What are you most proud of creating?
All by books are my babies, but I would say I am most proud of my company, Dark Ink. I had no knowledge of writing or the book industry and I naively started a publishing company.  Now 15 years later we over 100 published books sold in over 75 countries, we have sold film/television and translation rights, won awards and put out some of the most legendary horror actors in history, official biographies.  For being the kid in remedial classes who got a 47 in English his freshman year to running a successful publishing company still boggles my mind, yet somehow, I did it.

What's next on your literary horizon?
Too much!  I have a new Halloween themed horror collection coming out in the fall and I’m under contract for three new celebrity biographies and I’m trying to clean up a finished novel in the midst of all of that.
